a card for Julie

I just wanted to share my latest project. One of my Activity Day Girl's is turning 12 and I wanted to give her something special, just from me so I made this card with pictures of some of our Activities. I think it turned out cute! I'm trusting she's not going to stumble across my blog and accidentally see this. It's both exciting and sad for me to send another girl in to young women's. She is actually my first girl to start out with me as an 8 year old and go all the way through the program so that tells you how long I've been doing this. It's really a bitter sweet moment for me. In the next year I will send 4 more of my girls (or is it 5???). I will miss them all. I love all of them.
Check out Julie's card here!

Hint: The card's double sided so you can use your mouse to spin it around to look at the other side.

My girl's earn charms for a charm bracelet while they are passing off goals and their final 'charm' is a graduation girl. There's a blank spot in Julie's card under her archery badge (she's our best archer) where I'm going to use a pop dot to attach her charm.

new shoes

I am not a shoe person. I wear shoes under duress in most circumstances. I've learned as an adult that it is important to wear shoes and take care of my feet and I swear I'm getting more vigilant, I even wear shoes outside almost all the time now!! Anyway, I'm off topic. Tonight John bought me new tennis shoes. I've owned this last pair of tennis shoes for a long time. I think they may be almost as old as Sarah, around 12 years old. I've actually loved these tennis shoes because they're like not wearing shoes at all, unfortunately that's also their major flaw...they protect my feet as if I'm not wearing any shoes. So, today begins a new era, a new pair of shoes (Pink and white this time!! long may they wear!!)

I had lovely 'matching holes' in the bottom of both shoes!

The Goonie House

This is from the family reunion. Mindy just e-mailed it to me so I wanted to share. while we were in Astoria a group of us decided to go to the 'Goonie house' where they shot the home for the movie the goonies. I had a funky little map and we tried to follow it, but it wasn't super acurate so at first we missed the street. Once we found the street you wander over to this gravel road on a hill and follow the signs to the hosue. I think the home owners have to be really tolerant to put up with people stopping and taking pictures all of the time. This picture has Sarah and Shannon (Chad's eldest), Taylor (Bret's eldest), Jordan (Bret's), Mercedes, Josh (Paul's eldest) and Abrianna.

Feinauer Family Reunion

So, we're back from the Feinauer Family Reunion 2009!!! We had a really good time! I was so pleased that everything went as well as it did. We stayed at the Astoria KOA here in Oregon. We stayed in these cute little 4 and 6 person Kamp Kabins and were all lined up next to each other, wich was fun! There were only 28 of us and we missed those who couldn't be there and yet the group that was there interacted and had fun together, even cody joined in the fun! The kids were all so adorable together....they were like a pack, you couldn't always tell who belonged to whom, which was great. They had a 'jumping pillow' at the KOA wich is basically a trampoline and I swear those kids could jump on that thing all day long. The KOA is right across the street from Fort Stevens so we spent time at the beach there and at the Fort itself. I didn't get a whole lot of pictures because there were so many photographers there that I thought, why try?? I'll just get their pictures from them...so I'll post them when I have them. We did take one family photo with all of us in it...so, that should be interesting to see. Bret and Chad did most of the cooking and all of us pitched in with the cleaning and the organizing. WE had the addition of having a shrimp boil this year as our final dinner together (after all, we were at the beach so we wanted seafood!!!), so John was excited to cook up some shrimp, Cajun style...it was very popular! Everyone got along so well together. The kids were well behaved..it was just a really good time!!
